First Aid Kit
Accidents will inevitably happen, especially when outdoors, and particularly
when you take the kids along. Whenever adventuring outdoors, it's best to have a
first aid kit available to handle those little mishaps that can happen at the
campground. Whether you buy a ready-made kit, or you put one together on your
own, the basic first aid kit should include these items.
What to Put Into Your First Aid Kit:
- Alcohol or antiseptic wound wipes
- Antiseptic/anesthetic spray (like Bactine)
- Ace bandage
- Adhesive tape
- Aspirin or similar anti-inflammatory pain reliever
- Assorted non-stick adhesive bandages, gauze pads
- Burn cream for minor burns
- Hydrocortisone cream (anti-itch)
- Cotton balls and swabs
- Eye wash kit
- Cold compress
- Insect bite/sting stick
- Scissors
- Smelling salts
- Latex gloves
- Butterfly closures
- Triangular bandage
- Tweezers
- Plastic re-sealable bag
- First aid guide book/instruction cards
- Index card with family information (allergies, previous surgeries, etc)
